Summary:  Jerome Svigals is currently the director of the Smart Card Institute and is an internationally recognized authority on Smart Card and Smartphone Banking. He is regarded as the "father of the magnetic stripe card.” IBM lists his magnetic stripe development as one of their 100 greatest contributions to society. Jerome spent 33 years at IBM, where he was systems manager for Asia and Australia, assistant director of marketing (domestic USA), and development director for electronic banking. Jerome has published extensively on the future of electronic banking. His latest publication, Retail Bank 2020, has been presented at major international bankers meetings on 4 continents. Jerome received the 2009 Outstanding Alumnus of the Engineering College of City College of New York for his career achievements. He is also past Vice President and a current Board of Advisors member for the Silicon Valley Roundtable chapter of the National Association for Business Economics.
